Course Description

Fee$145.00. NCBTMB Approved 8 CE Japanese Shiatsu for Mat: Prone (Kata Sequence)

This is a “save your hands” course!

Therapists receive individualized instruction in body mechanics unique to mat work to prevent repetitive strain injury to their knees and back. You will learn Japanese Shiatsu in the Prone position utilizing hand, forearm, knee, and foot options. Prior experience in mat work is not required. Principles of Chinese Medicine guide Japanese Shiatsu and Therapists will be introduced to traditional concepts of Ki development and balancing. The Kidney & Urinary Bladder, Gallbladder and Small Intestine Primary Meridians (of the 14 Circuit Flow) will be viewed and studied within context of a sequenced bodywork routine. Japanese Anma Massage techniques called “hand music”, Classical Shiatsu Meridian Stretches and Manual Joint Therapy will be learned for balancing energy flow. Tsubo’s (acupoints) are a separate and advanced study, but palpation and activation of a Tsubo point will be introduced and a selection of common points used for health and wellness will be provided. Although this course is taught traditionally on Floor/Mat, Therapists have option to bring their own massage table and practice at their own comfort level.

Bio:
Kathleen is a NC Licensed Massage Therapist & Bodywork Therapist and NC Licensed Acupuncturist currently residing with her husband in Indian Land, South Carolina since 2012. She maintains a private practice in Charlotte, North Carolina and has been Licensed in Massage since 1997 teaching Japanese Shiatsu professionally since 2005 as a Florida Approved CE Provider and as an Instructor at Utah College of Massage/Advanced Program. Kathleen has provided professional training to Sandy Lane Hotel and Spa, a Five Star Accredited destination resort in Barbados, West Indies. An energetic and engaging Presenter, Kathleen facilitates deep presence and transforms the classroom into a healing environment where therapists can experience energy connection and movement. Kathleen finds that Japanese Shiatsu is a wonderful healing arts therapy that ultimately enhances and deepens our intuitive skills allowing us to work at a higher level with our clients. Japanese Shiatsu also integrates well and is frequently applied in Sports Medicine & Injury Recovery protocols.
