Course Description
This course will introduce participants to basic orthopedic assessments and tests of the Upper Extremities and the treatment plans using manual techniques. This two – day course provides each participant with hands – on, practical clinical training in integrative evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of injuries and disorders of the Upper Extremities.
Objectives
• Identify anatomical structures associated with disorders of the shoulder, elbow and wrist.
• Identify and assess active and passive range of motion and muscle length assessment for the shoulder, elbow and wrist.
• Identify manual techniques used for the treatment of the shoulder, elbow and wrist.
• Identify special tests used for the assessment of the shoulder, elbow and wrist.
• Identify corrective exercises used for the treatment of the shoulder, elbow and wrist.
Course Director Brian Moran, DPT, L.Ac
Dr. Brian Moran has been working in orthopedic physical therapy since 2000 and as an acupuncturist since 2005. In addition, he has taught numerous Continuing Education Courses for Acupuncturists and Massage Therapists. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Findlay and his diploma of Acupuncture from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine.
Participants will need to bring their own linens and clothing we would suggest is shorts.
We are a fully furnished massage school facility and provide Oakworks massage tables, linens, class tables, and computer/projector for overhead presentations.
