Employer Tuition Reimbursement
Don’t overlook your current or future employer as a funding source. Many wellness brands, including Massage Envy, Hand & Stone, and Elements Massage, run scholarship or reimbursement programs for students pursuing professional massage licenses.
Massage Envy, for example, awards 96 $2,500 scholarships nationwide each year. At the same time, several Hand & Stone franchise owners in North Carolina offer tuition-reimbursement incentives for graduates who join their team after licensure.
If you’re already working in a spa, chiropractic office, or fitness center, it’s worth asking if your employer has continuing-education or tuition assistance benefits. Even a modest $100 monthly reimbursement can save you more than $2,000 over two years.

Scenario 3: Fortify 36-Month Plan
Deposit $1,200, but no down payment. Payments of roughly $284 per month begin one month after class starts. You’ll still handle books and fees, but this path keeps monthly obligations comfortably under $300, ideal if you’re balancing work, family, or other expenses.
If you land a small WIOA award or an employer reimbursement of $100/month, your Fortify cost effectively drops to around $184/month. That’s less than the average car payment and far below most college loan installments.
Build Your Own Budget
Here’s a simple formula to plug into your calculator:
Estimated monthly cost = (total tuition – confirmed aid) ÷ months in payment plan + (books ÷ 6 months) + any tech fee or optional gear
So, for the 36-month Fortify path:
($9,590 tuition – $0 aid) ÷ 36 = $266/month
Add $650 for books spread over six months (~$108/mo early on), and your average total remains right around $284/month, which matches our school example.
VA and Military Education Benefits
If you’ve served in the military, your VA education benefits may cover some or all of your tuition. The N.C approves NC Massage School—State Approving Agency for veterans’ training.
