Massage Therapist Accessories: Bolsters

The comfort of your clients is imperative if you plan to be a successful massage therapist.  A bolster pillow, if used properly, can be a great tool to enhance your clients visit. There are three types of bolsters that you can use, the first is pillows. They are soft and easy to adjust when trying to find the perfect thickness. This is a good method because you can show your patient how to use their pillows at home for better sleeping conditions.

Rolled towels can also be used; they are perfect for adding minimal support. Of course, the third is an actual massage bolster. These are on the firmer side, which offers more support and helps to keep their shape. Massage bolsters are made with a vinyl covers for sanitary purposes and are available in all different sizes and shapes.

Even though bolsters can be helpful, they are not meant for everyone. This is something you should talk about with your patient. If it doesn’t add to their experience, or if it makes them feel uncomfortable, then don’t use it.
