The two-day Trager Introductory Workshop for Bodyworkers introduces participants to the Trager Approach, and invites them to begin to incorporate the principles that are the foundation of this work into their current practice.
There are two aspects of The Trager Approach; one in which the client is passive and the other in which the client is active. The passive aspect is called tablework, and the active aspect is called Mentastics. Movements are never forced so that there is no induced pain or discomfort to the client. This quality of effortless movement is present in all aspects of the work.
In the two-day Trager Introductory Workshop for Bodyworkers we will place emphasis on the manner in which a Trager Practitioner work.s You will learn to incorporate pauses in your work, use Mentastics and weight-sensing with clients to assess the client’s holding patterns, develop a non-intrusive full-contact touch, use your weight to reduce body stress while working, use rocking, and work in a deeper state of presence. On the second afternoon we will do a trade in which you will have an opportunity to practice incorporating Trager principles into your standard bodywork session.
This class is for professional therapists or advanced massage school students. Wear or bring loose or stretchy clothing (no jeans). Each student should bring a set of sheets, cream or lotion if that is what ou customarily use, and pillows or props for comfort if desired.
The Trager Approach is taught worldwide. Visit the Trager International websie at www.trager.com.
