Clinical Aromatherapy I –
Course Description:
The purpose of Clinical Aromatherapy I course is to enlighten and educate the student with knowledge of various aromatic plant oils and their healing properties. Learn when and when not to use therapeutic grade essential oils. This course introduces concepts basic to the role of the novice aromatherapist using a variety of essential plant oils. Emphasis is placed on beginning theory and techniques of clinical aromatherapy as well as skills in assessment, direct and indirect application, indications / contraindications, safety precautions, French blending methods and current essential oil research. Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to apply basic practical clinical aromatherapy skills safely to human clients. This is a hands-on course with time allotted to create custom French essential oil blends.
Clinical Aromatherapy I –
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of Clinical Aromatherapy I course, students will be able to:
1. Identify and list ancient versus modern uses of a variety of essential oils.
2. Identify and list safe and unsafe ways to purchase therapeutic grade essential oils.
3. Identify and list safety precautions when using therapeutic essential oils
4. List safe and unsafe topical and aromatic applications of therapeutic essential oils.
5. List the therapeutic healing properties, indications and contraindications
for the use of Lavender, Spearmint, Orange, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lemongrass, Marjoram (sweet), Frankincense, Bergamot, Rosemary, Cypress, and Roman chamomile essential oils.
6. Create safe and correct essential oil blends using the French blending methods.
7. List specific plant oil results associated with specific medical conditions.
